The Indian government has now mandated that ration card holders complete their e-KYC process to guarantee ration distribution transparency and stop scheme misuse. It is important to note that the e-KYC process for ration cards must be completed by March 31, 2025.
Those who don’t complete this process risk losing their Public Distribution System (PDS) food grain subsidies. As part of the e-KYC procedure, your Aadhaar card and ration card are linked, and your information is validated using Aadhaar-based verification.
Ration Card e-KYC: What is it?
For ration cardholders, e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) is a required procedure that involves connecting their Aadhaar card to their ration card to verify their identification. By taking this action, the Public Distribution System (PDS) is guaranteed to be free of fraudulent or duplicate beneficiaries.
The Ration Card e-KYC is essential because –
It guarantees the ongoing availability of food grains that are subsidised under the PDS.
It helps to expedite the distribution process by confirming that the beneficiaries are genuine.
Prevents the deactivation of ration cards due to non-adherence.
