Palace shares update after royal family reunites for Easter service
King Charles and Queen Camilla stepped out for an important event in the royal calendar which reunited members of the royal family over the weekend.
Buckingham Palace on Sunday released a special update after the King and Queen attended the service at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
The official social media for the royals shared photos of the family in candid moments during the significant event, conspicuously leaving out Prince Andrew from the carousel.
“The King and Queen were joined by other members of the Royal Family at St George’s Chapel in Windsor today for the traditional Easter Matins service,” the social media post caption read.
The social media post comes after the public was left in shock as the disgraced Duke of York made an appearance at the occasion. The public appearance raised concerns about the status of the Duke in the family and if the King was showing leniency to his brother once again.
However, seeing that Andrew was specifically left out in the family post, it seems that the row between Charles and the Duke is still happening behind closed doors.
Meanwhile, the absence of Prince and Princess of Wales was noticeable.
Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children – Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, Prince Louis, 5 – were confirmed not to attend the event by Kensington Palace days prior. According to reports, the Wales family wanted to spend time together as a family before the children went back to school from holidays.

The candidates to lead Canada after next week’s election took starkly different paths to the height of national politics.
Mark Carney, the Liberal Party leader, has never held elected office.
The former central banker took over as prime minister just a few weeks ago, after parachuting into politics and winning a race to replace Justin Trudeau as Liberal leader.
Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre was first elected to parliament in 2004, at age 25. Over the past two decades in Ottawa, he has moved up the political ranks, polishing his debate skills and delivering partisan blows.
But whoever heads the next government will be tasked with managing a fractured relationship with Canada’s largest trading partner and once closest ally, the United States, while dealing with President Donald Trump, who has discussed making America’s northern neighbour a United States’ state.
Crisis experience
Carney was born in Fort Smith, a community near the Arctic in Canada’s Northwest Territories.
He was raised in the western city of Edmonton and played competitive hockey in his youth.
He studied at Harvard in the United States and Oxford in England, and the initial part of his career saw him make a fortune as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, working in New York, London, Tokyo and Toronto.
Carney then joined the Canadian civil service, eventually being appointed governor of the Bank of Canada in 2008.
In 2013, then-British Prime Minister David Cameron appointed him to lead the Bank of England, making him the first non-British person to hold the position.
After finishing his term in London, he joined Brookfield, a massive Canadian corporation and served as United Nations advisor promoting pro-climate initiatives in finance.
Rumours had long circulated that Carney was eyeing an entry into Canadian politics. When Trudeau announced his plans to resign on January 6, Carney pounced.
The 60-year-old has argued that his experience at the Bank of Canada through the 2008-2009 financial crisis and with the Bank of England through the turbulence surrounding the 2016 Brexit vote has equipped him to handle Canada’s upheaval in US relations.
Carney has described the Trump threat as “the most serious crisis of our lifetime,” and said the US president “wants to break us so he can own us.”
But the father of four and accomplished marathon runner has also sought to project calm, telling voters he can reposition Canada on the global stage and reduce reliance on the US, a country he said “we can no longer trust.”
Dalhousie University professor Lori Turnbull noted Carney “doesn’t have a dynamic communication style” but comes across as “a reassuring guy who knows what he’s talking about.”
‘I’m nothing like Trump’
Poilievre had established himself as a relentless and effective critic of Trudeau, who became deeply unpopular toward the end of decade in power.
The Tory leader has also drawn comparisons to Trump, in part over his attacks on the media and a previous promise to be Canada’s “anti-woke prime minister.”
But Poilievre has been forced to adjust in response to polling indicating Canadians want a leader who can confront Trump.
“I am nothing at all Like Trump,” Poilievre insisted on a Quebec talk show this month, emphasising his “humble beginnings.”
At Thursday’s election debate, Poilievre used his closing statement to remind voters that he was born to a single mother before being adopted by teachers.
He said his parents “raised him to believe that anyone who worked hard could do anything. That promise feels broken today.”
Poilievre has argued he can also resist Trump, while insisting poor Liberal economic management under Trudeau left Canada vulnerable to US hostility.
He has also aimed to soften his tone, but for University of Alberta professor Frederic Boily, the stylistic changes may have come too late.
“To become prime minister, he must project hope and a positive vision, and he’s struggled to make that transition,” he told AFP.
Poilievre was born in the western city of Calgary and advances policies supported by the region’s oil industry, including new pipeline construction.
He also built support nationally as a critic of pandemic lockdown policies that some saw as excessive.
He has been re-elected eight times by his Ottawa area district and served in the cabinet of former Conservative prime minister Stephen Harper.
His wife, Anaida Poilievre, emigrated from Venezuela to Canada. They have two children.
China has warned countries against appeasing the US in trade talks over President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
A Chinese commerce ministry spokesperson made the comments in response to reports that Washington plans to put pressure on governments to restrict trade with Beijing in exchange for exemptions to US import taxes.
The Trump administration has started talks with trading partners over tariffs, with a Japanese delegation visiting Washington last week and South Korea is set to start negotiations this week.
Since returning to the White House in January, Trump has imposed hefty tariffs on Chinese imports, while other countries have also been hit with levies on their goods.
“China believes that all parties should stand on the side of fairness… and should defend international economic and trade rules and the multilateral trading system.”
It came after reports last week that the US plans to use tariff negotiations to pressure dozens of countries into imposing new barriers on trade with China.
The BBC has asked the US Treasury Department and the US Trade Representative for responses to the report.
“If you put the numbers on it, about 20% of Japan’s profitability comes from the United States, about 15% comes from the People’s Republic of China,” said Jesper Koll, from Japanese online trading platform operator Monex Group.
“Certainly, Japan doesn’t want to [have to] choose between America and the People’s Republic of China.”
Since Trump’s inauguration, there has been a flurry of announcements on tariffs.
The US president has said the import taxes will encourage US consumers to buy more American-made goods, increase the amount of tax raised, and lead to major investments in the country.
But critics have said bringing manufacturing back to the US is complicated and could take decades and that the economy will struggle in the meantime.
Trump has also backtracked on many of his announcements.
Just hours after steep levies on dozens of America’s trading partners kicked in earlier this month, he announced a 90-day pause on those tariffs to all countries bar China, in the face of mounting opposition from politicians and the markets.
Trump has imposed taxes of up to 145% on imports from China. Other countries are now facing a blanket US tariff of 10% until July.
His administration said last week that when the new tariffs are added on to existing ones, the levies on some Chinese goods could reach 245%.
Trump has said more than 70 countries have reached out to start negotiations since the tariffs were announced.
WASHINGTON — An aide to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth published an op-ed Sunday in which he was highly critical of his former boss and suggested that President Donald Trump might soon remove him after weeks of turmoil, including leaked texts about airstrikes in Yemen and the abrupt firings of top officials.
“It’s been a month of total chaos at the Pentagon,” John Ullyot, who had been a top spokesman at the Defense Department before he left his job there last week, wrote on Politico. “From leaks of sensitive operational plans to mass firings, the dysfunction is now a major distraction for the president — who deserves better from his senior leadership.
“President Donald Trump has a strong record of holding his officials to account. Given that, it’s hard to see Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth remaining in his position for much longer.”
The Defense Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Ullyot, who worked in the first Trump administration, as well, also noted the firings of several top Pentagon officials in the last several days. On Friday, according to Ullyot, Hegseth’s chief of staff, Joe Kasper, was removed from his position following the firings of several other senior aides to Hegseth, including deputy chief of staff Darin Selnick and senior adviser Dan Caldwell, as well as the chief of staff to the deputy secretary of defense, Colin Carroll. (Selnick, Caldwell and Carroll said in a statement Saturday: “We are incredibly disappointed by the manner in which our service at the Department of Defense ended. Unnamed Pentagon officials have slandered our character with baseless attacks on our way out the door.”)
“In the aftermath [of the firings], Defense Department officials working for Hegseth tried to smear the aides anonymously to reporters, claiming they were fired for leaking sensitive information as part of an investigation ordered earlier this month,” Ullyot wrote. “Yet none of this is true.”
Ullyot said that he was not part of the purge and that he opted to leave the Pentagon when he turned down a position Hegseth had offered him.
He described himself in the piece as loyal to Hegseth, but he also noted a series of unforced errors by his former boss.
“[E]ven strong backers of the secretary like me must admit: the last month has been a full-blown meltdown at the Pentagon — and it’s becoming a real problem for the administration,” he wrote.
The op-ed was published within hours of The New York Times’ reporting that Hegseth used his personal phone to send information about military operations in Yemen to a Signal group chat that included his wife, his brother and his personal lawyer. Two sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed the reporting to NBC News.

“I’m so heartbroken and gutted that his weight is just going up,” the mom of five began in a video, referring to her eldest son Harvey–who suffers from various disorders including blindness, autism, septo-optic dysplasia, and Prader-Willi syndrome.
“I just googled it in stones, 188kg is just a few kg of being 30 stone. It’s so now, I’m still waiting for the doctors to get back to me starting on the Mounjaro and his journey to a healthy life.”
Mounjarois, a brand name for the drug tirzepatide, is among Hollywood staples for losing weight including Ozempic.
The OnlyFans model went on to say how difficult it was watching Harvey’s battle with multiple conditions but vowed she would get him through it.
“It’s so sad his quality of life at the moment where he’s so big, he just can’t really do much,” she lamented in the video.
“It’s just another thing I have to deal with because he’s at high risk of having a heart attack, he struggles to put his trainers or struggles to walk anywhere but I love him and I’m going to help him through this.”
